What’s in a ZADDY?

We here at TCAD have given this ample thought and much consideration since our last conversation. What goes into a Zaddy and what makes that different from the slang term Daddy.  We've postulated that age has a lot to do with it, or perhaps an excess of swag.  

So we turned the urban Dictionary which defines ZADDY as The slang term for a really "handsome" guy who is very appealing and looks really fashionable. He has to have swag and sex appeal and look sexy and attractive.  This didn’t help at all, as it's the exact same definition for a Daddy.

What makes people inexplicably swoon over someone enough to risk it all?

Elements like intensity, and confidence and style and physical attractiveness all play a part to some degree or another on whether someone is looked at and deemed Zaddy.  

Weighing all the various elements that go into the moniker, as far as I can tell these days, true Zaddy-dom seems to only be achievable through the strength and might of a powerful beard.

Hear me out…  

If left to its own devices long enough, the internet always provides insight.  The Chaos Magician behind the @WierdDadPage on Facebook decided for better or worse to throw caution to the wind and throw several photos of vintage Mr. Rogers into a face app and apply a clean shaped-up set of facial hair.

And G**Dammit if it didn’t send the Thirstdom of the web into a frenzy.  I mean these people grew up with Fred "Presbyterian Minister" Rogers, and now they are writing the horniest of comments. An apparent blooming some decades delayed sexual awakening.  

Fred "Changing into a Cardigan and Keds" Rogers, is now inspiring comments like   

I mean for goodness sake! Fred "Sweet mild-mannered, as bland and comforting as a grilled cheese sandwich on white bread" Rogers got folks out here like 

Even I find myself uncomfortably responding to the undeniable appeal of this new be-bearded  Fred McFeely "I once wrapped a banana with a slice of American Cheese and called it a snack" Rogers 

all because of a face app applied beard.  So, it seems that we can finally close the chapter on the true meaning of the term Zaddy. 

Yes, it is a combination of strength, confidence, style, and the wisdom that comes with age. All of these components, only taken to new and glorious heights with the addition of a fantastic beard. 

And I have to say, yes it makes me uncomfortable, but I don’t hate it.
